put this in your pipe and smoke it!
hope everyone’s weekend is rollocking along…
So I know putitupto11 has been our resident ‘Hot Shit Download’ purveyor of late with his epic lists and crafty soundcloud embeds (nice work, btw), but I have a fire track of my own to share from former New Jersey (now Brooklyn, of course) psychedelic pop quintet Real Estate (although I’m sure he already talked about them the “best albums of 2010” pieces he wrote).
Even though it was about 8 degrees the morning I burned this CD to listen to on my awful commute (yes, I still burn CDs…), you can practically taste summer.
p.s. watch in HQ
Alright, only about six more hours till FREEDOM! (if you’re on the West Coast, sorry, guess you’re SOL).
Anyway, use the time you’re supposed to be churning out that TPS report to instead dig Phantogram, an indie/electronic duo from upstate NY:
i think i’m maybe reading too much hipster runoff and listening to too much ‘washed out’ or something cause i’ve been in quite the introspective mood of late, to the point where i don’t feel like doing anything much more cracking open a craft beer, kicking my toms up on the coffee table, putting on the record player and questioning EVERYTHING.
why do we blog?
is it for selfish purposes?
is it to convince people we’re funny or relevant?
do we have something to say?
does what we say even matter?
are we mean-spirited?
do we cash in on other people’s misfortunes?
do we want to be famous?
do we want to be considered ‘tastemakers’ among our peers?
is it because the internet gives us a voice?
does the internet give us a voice?
do we just do this to embed album covers like the one above?
so many questions.
anyway, my next task is to move this site to a platform so we can make a moneygrab and try to get ads on the site (and also allow for a bunch of new customizations). so expect great things from TMF soon. Well, once i finally justify our existence and maybe then acknowledge the $ contributors have thrown in to the effort.
lastly, in a typically belated fashion, i’d like to apologize for tardiness on this matter and on not offering a quicker apology regarding yippiekaijay‘s Penn State joke, which apparently takes far longer to reach West Texas than I expected.
“7/29 – flo rida, taio cruz – hangover”
that’s a little note i made myself when i heard a snippet of this song. they took it down IMMEDIATELY. but finally, it’s out, and it’s fire.
I have a suspicion that there will be a remix that might make this song a little more fire flames, but it’ll do for now.
360 is some australian dude who brings serious heat. you can’t even buy this shit in the US yet, but tmf is a big believer in global warming.
“run alone” and “child” are fire. the rest are eh. check em out.
