tour watch

I feel compelled to share another track from Real Estate’s new album Days, which might be my pick for best of 2011. Putitupto11 and I got to see them at Brighton Music Hall last weekend for the first show of their tour, and the guys were cool enough to stick around and shoot the shit afterwards.

This song is one of their more uppity tracks from the album, with an equally happy video that pretty much conveys the idea of why dogs are Man’s Best Friend better than those sappy, guilt-ridden ASPCA commercials with Sarah MacLachlan.

Here are their upcoming tour dates before taking off for sunny Australia and New Zealand for the dead of winter:

01.17 – Burlington, VT — Higher Ground
01.18 – Montreal, QC — La Sala Rossa
01.19 – Ottawa, ON — Mavericks
01.20 – Toronto, ON — Lee’s Palace
01.21 – Cleveland, OH — Beachland Ballroom
01.22 – Washington, DC — Black Cat

God damn was today depressing … like all anyone could see and hear about all day and night is creepy old coaches diddling little boys — followed by extraneous nonsense like people singing Journey outside Joe Paterno’s house, Matt Millen crying on SportsCenter, Herman Cain reaching up broads skirts and asteroids that are definitely missing earth but still have a .00001% chance to TAKE A DIRECT HIT and create a 70 FOOT TSUNAMI!!!!

Silly Season Indeed.

But F all that noise. The information age sucks and you know it. Though occasionally it does give us a tidbit of good news: Radiohead has announced a rare North American Tour, and tickets go on sale tomorrow today.

So yes I’m going to bury my head in the sand and throw ”Codex” on the record player to relax and convince myself I haven’t gone completely insane yet from information overload.
